I am in Kisumu at the shore of Lake Victoria. It’s a pleasant city, almost a garden city with its low density and tree-lined streets. They have their own tiny national park right in the city but I felt that I can miss zebras for one day.

Dunga Beach is a fishing village south of Kisumu, apart from one resort a place of work, not tourism. Went out on the lake with a boat and watched fishermen and sandmen at work. Selling sand is big business and tiny wooden boats barely above the waterline transport it across the lake. Most fishing is really farming, using small floating islands where the fish are grown, mostly tilapia.

By accident I wandered into a local music competition and watched a few performances. Quite good! I dislike and avoid those tourist shows where some sad actors perform for disinterested tourists.
