Ngorongoro is a national park in the center north of Tanzania. The main attraction is a huge intact volcano crater, 610m deep and 260 square kilometers inside. You can seen the crater rim from any point inside. It’s a bowl of wildlife. I was visiting with a small group of six, in a 4WD truck with a roof that can be raised. Getting out would be very dangerous!
We have been lucky to see two groups of lions, and elephants, giraffes, antelopes, buffalo, rhinos, and all sorts of birds. I took some 600 pictures! I carry a 4/3 DSLR travel camera that tops out at 400mm (@35mm), which is really not enough but far better than the cell phones most of the others were bringing.
This was my first safari. I was always skeptical because I don’t care much for animals that I can’t eat, but it really was quite spectacular.
