Lake Naivasha keeps growing. Rainwater has raised the water level until several lakes joined, and several buildings are now under water. Dead trees rise from the water, and birds perch on each dead branch like in a Hitchcock movie. Hippos wait for the evening, and the boats must not come near because hippos are vegetarian, but also extremely bad-tempered and fast. Hippos kill far more people than sharks every year.

In the middle of the lake is Crescent Island. There are no cars and other predators here, so the antelopes, gnus, birds, and giraffes are at peace and seem almost bored. It’s possible to walk around the island among the animals, they don’t seem to take notice.
