Hakuna matata means “no problem” in Swahili. I took an early morning flight to Arusha on the Tanzanian mainland with Auric Air. The goldfinger in charge of the x-ray regretted that sunscreen can’t be in cabin baggage because it’s flammable (what?) but — sotto voce — for a small fee he could let me pass. As usual in such circumstances my English degraded precipitously and I walked back towards the bag counter to “check in my bag”. Curiously the fee was immediately waived.
Arusha is on the crossroads between Tanzania and Mombasa and Nairobi in Kenya, so it’s not very interesting for tourists and has lots of traffic. Downtown is essentially a huge market, you can get everything here from bananas to entire front sections of cars in case yours fell off. Like everything I have seen so far, it’s very clean but sidewalks range from merely blocked to seriously dangerous.
