Kilkenny

This town does not only have a super Irish name, it’s also very pretty and feels much more Irish than the big cities. Pubs everywhere, with doors and interiors painted black and bright red, locals who have clearly had too much Guiness, and very few tourist shops. If only there were fewer cars clogging the narrow streets. They have a beautiful though somewhat gloomy castle, altogether too many churches and cathedrals, and an old art quarter.

Waterford, on the other hand, can be seen in like an hour. Not too many attractions, but a pretty pedestrianized center.

A foony thing happened – while Americans have always told me that I have an Irish accent, today an Irish bartender mistook me for an American. It’s my first time in Ireland…
